How to Set Up IPTV on a MAG Box

MAG set-top boxes are dedicated IPTV receivers. Instead of a username and password, they connect through a portal URL that's linked to the box's unique MAC address. Once set up, a MAG box works much like a cable receiver: turn it on and your channels are there.

Here's how to link your box, enter the portal and keep it running smoothly.

What you need

  • A MAG box connected to your TV (HDMI) and your router (Ethernet strongly recommended)
  • The box's MAC address — printed on the label underneath and usually starting with 00:1A:79
  • The portal URL from your activation message
  • The box's remote control

Step-by-step setup

  1. 1

    Send us your MAC address

Message our support team the MAC address from the label under the box. We link it to your subscription, which usually takes a few minutes. You'll find it again later in Settings → System settings → Device info.

  2. 2

    Open the portal settings

Turn on the box and wait for the main menu. Go to Settings → System settings → Servers → Portals. On some firmware versions the path is Settings → Servers → Portals.

  3. 3

    Enter the portal URL

In Portal 1 name, type any name you like. In Portal 1 URL, type the portal address from your activation message exactly as written, including http:// and any slash at the end. Save with the OK button.

  4. 4

    Restart the portal

Go back to the main menu and choose Restart portal, or unplug the box for ten seconds. The box connects to the portal and loads your channel list automatically.

  5. 5

Set the time zone and favorites

In System settings, set your time zone so the TV guide shows the right times. Then mark your favorite channels from the channel list.

Getting around with the MAG remote

Open the channel list

Press OK while watching to open the channel list. Use the up and down arrows to browse and the left and right arrows to switch between categories.

Open the TV guide

Press the EPG or Guide button to see what is on now and next. Highlight a program and press OK to switch to that channel or read its description.

Add favorites

In the channel list, highlight a channel and press the Fav or F button (on some remotes, the red or blue color button) to add it to favorites. Favorites appear in their own category at the top.

Keep your MAG box running well

Use Ethernet

MAG boxes are designed for wired connections. A cable to the router gives the most stable picture.

Update the firmware

Check for software updates in System settings. Updates fix bugs and improve compatibility.

Reboot weekly

Unplug the box for ten seconds once a week to clear its memory.

Troubleshooting

“STB blocked” or “Your STB is not supported”

The MAC address isn't linked yet or was entered incorrectly. Double-check it and message our support team.

Stuck on “Loading portal”

Check the portal URL for typos, confirm the Ethernet cable is connected and restart the box.

Guide times are off

Set the correct time zone in System settings and restart the portal.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find the MAC address?

On the sticker under the box, and in Settings → System settings → Device info.

Can I move my subscription to a new MAG box?

Yes. Send us the new MAC address and we'll update it for you.

Can I use two MAG boxes in the same home?

Yes. Each box has its own MAC address, so send us both addresses and choose a plan with at least two connections. Each box then works independently in a different room.

Can I use Wi-Fi with a MAG box?

Some models support Wi-Fi adapters, but a wired Ethernet connection is strongly recommended for stability.
